Why It Matters:

The lack of adequate community and county services highlights the urgent need for long-term solutions for homeless individuals, rather than just temporary shelter. Providing only a night or a week’s lodging is not enough. We must address a problem that has been overlooked for too long by establishing a foundation of safe and stable housing. Homeless individuals require access to resources, training, and skills that will enable them to manage their daily lives and secure permanent housing. SCWC is dedicated to this mission. It is not sustainable to keep applying temporary fixes to a recurring issue; we need to break the cycle of homelessness. The Transitional Housing program is crucial, as it offers up to two years of secure housing for homeless mothers and their children, along with the vital resources and training they need to achieve self-reliance.
